Beef Production Has Commenced...

With the arrival of Burnt Creek Kelvin, on lease from Vitulus Stud, beef production has officially begun. Kelvin arrived with a consignment of Lowlines purchased at the GVL dispersal sale and Vitulus Extravagant - now weaned from her mum -  and Vitulus Devine, fresh from her trip to the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Burnt Creek Kelvin was Grand Champion Bull at the Royal Sydney Show 2004. After a quick drink and a mouthful of hay, he picked out one of the Murray Greys and got to work.

We're taking orders for beef delivery in 2012...

A Redline Bull Calf

After an anxious wait, Vitulus Bling gave birth to a Redline bull calf (seen here at one day old) just on the full moon. While we were aware that Bling carried the recessive wild allele red gene, we were expecting a black Lowline calf.

What a fantastic surprise...

For more on the Redline genetics, see Margo Hayes' website ( click here).

Onyx Park First Strike

The first Onyx Park Lowline calf was born today. Onyx Park First Strike (shown here at ten days) is a bull calf from Moreton Streep, our oldest female who is a first generation decendent of the original Trangie herd. Streep and First Strike are staying with Margo Hayes at Vitulus Stud for a few months.

The first breeders for our commercial beef herd are three Murray Greys from Blue Ash Acres near Gympie - Daphne, Delta and Dakota. The Lowlines were quite interested...

Vitulus Lowlines

New additions from Vitulus Stud - with red eartags - included Vitulus Bling and her bull calf Erik the Red plus a young heifer Vitulus Exquisite. Vitulus Divine stayed behind to play a part in the show team for the Sydney Royal Easter Show and Vitulus Extravagant remained with her mum for a little longer.

First Lowlines

The adventure begins... the first of our Lowline herd arrived from Weeroona Stud today. Four lovely ladies - Alambie Kellyville, Weeroona Ashlie, Weeroona Dolores and Weeroona Ellendale - and they were all very happy to be here.
